Traditional House expansion in Kyparissia

A house in the traditional settlement of Kyparissia was restored and expanded to cover the needs of the residents. The intervention was designed in full compatibility with the buildings’ architectural character and its surroundings. Key principle for the design has been the expansion to complement the existing building, while maintaining its functional continuity. This is achieved through the addition of a volume made of glass curtains, acting as a connecting element between the two buildings, allowing visual contact of the interior area with the yard, while clarifying the distinction between the old and the new building, all within a functionally unified floor plan and an aesthetically unified façade.
