CONVERSION OF VOTRIS INDUSTRY INTO A SCHOOL COMPLEX
The construction of the winery VOTRIS in Sepolia started in 1885 and was completed a few years later. It is considered to be a remarkable example of early 1900 industrial architecture; therefore, it is designated as a heritage asset. The project aims to restore and refurbish the listed complex and also design a supplementary building in order to accommodate the 9th Athens Technical Lyceum.
The existing main bearing structure of the building has been maintained, repaired and reinforced. External interventions aim to restore the original architectural composition. The new building will gently collaborate with the existing structures while the masterplanning aims to ameliorate the relationship of the complex with its surrounding urban space.
