Listed façade restoration and design of a four-story boutique hotel
A listed façade, the only remnant of a neoclassical building in Praxitelous str in downtown Athens was the determining factor for the design process of a boutique hotel that emerges behind it. The façade is restored and incorporated in the new building, which consists of four stories and two basements. The entrance lobby, bar and restaurant are situated on the ground floor, rooms are situated on the upper floors, while wellness areas are situated underground. The outdoor areas of the upper levels are designed purposely to create a buffer zone between the old façade and the new building, making it stand out and adopting an almost scenographic approach towards its urban setting. An interior patio, extending from the basement till the mezzanine functions as a core, unifying all common areas of the building.
