RESIDENCE AT THE TRADITIONAL SETTLEMENT OF PRASTOS, NORTH KYNOURIA

The three storey residence is located in the traditional settlement of Prastos, North Kynouria, at high altitude. It has a rectangular shape (6.00X14.60m) with the long side parallel to the sloping terrain. The restoration project aims to incorporate traditional construction methods and materials, with comfortable living conditions, according to contemporary lifestyle. Therefore, the roof was covered with local stone, local timber was used for the construction, and local craftsmen were involved. Inside, all the three storey are unified by a central staircase. During the restoration process a stone was discovered with the year 1609 engraved on it, which undoubtedly proves the building’s age.
